Dedicated Development Team for Japanese Companies
Plan a dedicated engineering group around product priorities, shared context and a delivery rhythm that works across borders.
Make the delivery interface explicit
A Japanese technology company evaluating an offshore partner should define how requirements, questions and acceptance decisions cross the organizational boundary. This matters for any distributed project, particularly when teams do not share the same primary language. Use examples, interface contracts and written acceptance criteria to reduce interpretation gaps.
Identify a product contact and a technical contact who can resolve different kinds of questions. Record decisions in the shared delivery system so engineers can verify the latest agreement. A consistent source of truth is more useful than expecting every participant to remember the same conversation.
Plan language responsibilities separately from coding
The initial service and website content are in English. Japanese translation, interpretation and customer-facing copy need an agreed owner if they are part of the project. Do not assume that engineering capacity includes Japanese-language support. Review terminology that appears in specifications, interfaces and operational documents.
A bilingual glossary or reviewed examples may help when domain terms have several possible interpretations. Keep translated product content outside the application code where practical, and test layouts with real text. These are project requirements to plan, not claims about the language capability of any proposed engineer.
Use a bounded pilot to evaluate collaboration
A contained integration or product enhancement can reveal how the teams handle questions, code review and acceptance. Define the scope and the review point before beginning. Evaluate technical output alongside communication quality and the amount of internal coordination the arrangement requires.
Agree working hours and release responsibilities explicitly. The business operates remotely from Sri Lanka, and this page describes potential collaboration with Japanese companies. It does not claim a Japanese office, local presence or existing customer history. Longer commitments should follow a clear assessment of the actual team and delivery model.
